Four sites, built to be looked at

None of these businesses exist. I invented four of them — a stonemason, a garden designer, a private clinic and a builder, the trades I get asked about most. Then I built each one exactly as I'd build yours. The honest answer to "what would mine look like?" is a finished site, not a description of one.

Each is a different kind of site on purpose, and every screenshot below opens the live one. Look at them on a phone as well as a computer. That's where most of your customers will find you, and it's the half that's hardest to get right.

The Ridgeway Stone home page: a block of Bath stone on a banker mason's bench in a workshop, with the name set large across it.

Stonemasonry · Chippenham

Ridgeway Stone

Fireplaces, mullions, porticos and repairs in Bath and Cotswold stone.

The making, rather than a gallery of the made. The page scrolls one block from rough to finished, because the process is the part a photograph cannot sell.

The Downland home page: a stone terrace and planted border running out into the Marlborough Downs at first light, with the name set large across it.

Garden design and hard landscaping · Marlborough

Downland

Drystone walls, stone terraces and planting across the Marlborough Downs.

Sideways rather than down. The page pans across one finished garden — terrace, then border, then wall — so you move through the place instead of past pictures of it.

The Okus Dental home page, headlined "Dentistry for people who have been putting it off", beside a photograph of a bright treatment room.

Private dental clinic · Old Town, Swindon

Okus Dental

Implants, cosmetic work and routine care, with the prices on the page.

The light one, and the only one with a form in it. Treatment prices published rather than held back for an enquiry, and a booking form that validates, answers, and says plainly that nothing was sent.

The Big Builds home page: a half-built brick extension at dusk under scaffolding, work lights burning inside the timber frame, with the name set large across it.

Building and landscaping · Swindon

Big Builds

Extensions, renovations and gardens for homeowners across Swindon.

The only one that runs to more than a page, and the only one built on video. The hero is a dusk build scrubbed frame by frame as you scroll, and it carries on across four pages rather than stopping at the bottom of one.

Yours would be built the same way

Three of these are a single page and Big Builds runs to four. Most real projects sit somewhere in that range — a few pages, a contact form, sometimes booking or payments — and the pricing page sets out what each of those costs. If you want to see the software side instead, the case studies are two products I designed and built end to end.
